Community Highlight: Vehicle Inspections

Technician completing a checklist

The saying goes, “a poor workman blames his tools.” Could the same apply to your technicians and their trucks?

Why bother?

Your team should have everything they need every single time they make a stop, so having them regularly inspect their vehicles is the best way to ensure they are well prepared.

Whether or not you have a routine in place, here’s how you can use Forgely to maximize the results of your inspections and create a more efficient team.

With inspections on Forgely, you:

  • Create a more efficient team

  • Take the hassle out of reminders and grading

  • Give your employees more responsibility

By having each team member responsible for their own truck, you’ll spend less time “saving” them when they realize they’ve run out of soil conditioner 25 miles away from the office.

Your time as a manager is valuable, and you’ve got enough on your plate already, so have your techs inspect their own vehicles.  It’s easy to do on Forgely - choose to set up the inspection as “employee performed,” and it shows up on their dashboard instead of yours. Here's what one of our customers had to say about using inspections on Forgely:

Vehicle Inspections have helped our business in so many ways because they make us look at items that people normally take for granted. It gives us the opportunity to make sure that our vehicles are clean, stocked properly, and that the maintenance is up t

What if I don’t have time?

We get it - time is a luxury and creating an inspection from scratch is going to take extra time that you don’t have. The good news is that there are several inspections in Forgely ready for you to use - and in less than 60 seconds, you can have it downloaded and assigned to your team.

Here’s how:

  1. Log in to your Forgely account and head to the Community tab.

  2. Search for “vehicle”.

  3. To preview an inspection, simply click on the title.  Once you’ve found one you’d like to use (keep in mind you can make edits), select “Use Inspection”.

  4. Change the name and add to or edit the inspection points as necessary.

  5. Hit “Save” and select whether or not you’d like to assign it now or later.  (Don’t forget to select “Employee Performed” in the assignment settings.)
