Google Chrome For Mac

Due to an awesome (read “unconventional”) leak, News of Google’s open source web browser Chrome was sent to the Press a day early.

The announcement though did have a unique edge to it - rather than the usually dry/boring/yaaaaawnariffic Press package, Google pushed out a pretty detailed Chrome comic book addressing the Chrome’s development, purpose and user interface.

So in between thoughts of, does Google have it out for Microsoft like an embittered junior high ex? and what happens to Mozilla Firefox now (Firefox is my current browser of choice)? I was anxiously checking on the supposed url of Google.com/Chrome only to be hit again and again with that ever unfriendly 404 page all morning.

But then something marvelous happened. The page was populated. Google Chrome is here!

But after my quick skim read I quickly went back to really read what the page was saying. Windows users? Here ya go, download now. Mac user? Sorry. Give us your email and we’ll be sure to let you know when we have goodies for you as well.

Google - no Chrome for Mac users?

But I understand - we aren’t generally your target attack market indeed if you are going for Microsoft’s jugular like the popular media supposes you are. And working with a development team helps me to understand and appreciate the differences and difficulties of working with multiple platforms. These things take time. But Google, please don’t take too much time. I’ve read the documentation, the book, saw the video - I’m just waiting to push the button and take Chrome for a test drive myself.

Sign up for updates? Yes please. Chrome for Mac - I can’t wait to meet you.
