Assignment
The United States Playing Card Company (USPC) was looking for a website on which they could offer a brand-new service, personalized playing cards. The service needed to allow users to upload images (or import them from third-party services on the web such as Picasa, SmugMug and Flickr). Customers then use the powerful image editing application to customize the back of a playing card using the images they select. Once selected, the customers needed a quick and easy way to order their personalized cards.
Project Scope
The Bicycle Personalized Cards site features advanced customizations to our CoalBiz e-commerce solution to allow the user to customize their playing cards with a variety of options. The entire customization process is handled by a single tool, developed with flash, which allows the user to crop, rotate, and mirror their image, before decorating it with borders and text in a variety of fonts, colors, and sizes.
The site also features a coupon system that integrates with in-store purchases of a boxed product to redeem online. Customers visiting a number of national retail locations may purchase a plastic card containing a serial number which can be used on the site for purchases allowing the origin of sales to come from traditional brick & mortar locations or from the online store.
Orders are processed on the website and then transparently delivered to a 3rd party organization for production and fulfillment in a seamless and secure closed loop. This turn key solution requires virtually no oversight from USPC personnel.
Result
Bicycle Personalized cards offers a full-featured tool for customizing playing cards, to provide a unique deck of cards or memorable gift. In addition to providing USPC with a full-featured custom e-commerce application, Coalmarch developed a promotions system which allows USPC personnel to create pre-configured packages of custom decks for sale on the site to include optional discounts and a variety of robust business rules to make the end-user experience fun, easy and quick to complete.
